Achat initial du stylo-plume, le 16/12/1972. Montblanc 121P 14K 585 (?) Fourni sans (AVEC) cartouches. Yep, I'm completely wrong.. it (121P) is a Meisterstuck series pen. Product Name Model 121, as marked on the cap band. It is very similar to the 221 but has different trim. Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- Early 1970s. Color Black barrel with gold plated trim.

Here is some info about the pen I got (I still didn't take decent pictures to attach): 1) The cap is inscribed with a number 121 and MONTBLANC in capital letters (no "Germany" or "Meisterstuck" to be found). It is 63 mm long. The inscription seem very convincing especially as the horizontal line of the letter "A" in montblanc looks like an arrow pointing downwards. It has a flush white star on the flat top. 2) The nib has only the number 750 punched in it (I assume for 18K gold). It's not magnetic. 3) The filling system is with cartridge. The present empty cartridge is branded Pelikan. 4) The barrel is one piece only (differently from all but one of the pictures I could find online of MB 121s). It is 69 mm long and it has the white star inside an orange circle (same orange material of the ring between section and barrel), but the star does't seem flush with the plastic (concerning??). 5) The whole pen is 132 mm long when capped. The plastic seems slightly transparent when shone with light. 6) I can't find any serial numbers anywhere. 7) It came with a box made of brown hard plastic (looks like celluloid). Box is inscribed MONTBLANC on the top. Also it's written red inside the white lining but no six pointed star to be seen (one of my concerns). --- As an excuse for a possibly reckless purchase, when I acquired it I had little time to look at all the details, it looked quite convincing so I had a go at it - unfortunately I'm not expert of pens so couldn't be 100% sure. Afterwards I started looking at pictures of MB 121s and could find only one example that was cartridge filled and with a barrel that didn't split into two parts (see link below). http://www.todocolec...502#descripcion What I discovered looking up for pictures etc is that the barrel looks more like from a MB 221 while the cap says 121. So might it be a "marriage" between two different pens? Also, I found similar looking boxes on the web but all have the star above the red writing Mont Blanc (one word on top of the other) in the inside lining which mine doesn't. Alless ===== FR Chers membres et experts, J'ai récemment acheté un MB 121 vintage (j'espère authentique). Voici quelques informations sur le stylo que j'ai obtenu (je n'ai toujours pas pris de photos décentes à attacher): 1) Le capuchon est inscrit avec un nombre 121 et Montblanc en majuscules (pas de "Allemagne" ou "Meisterstuck" à trouver). Il mesure 63 mm de long. L'inscription semble très convaincante, d'autant plus que la ligne horizontale de la lettre "A" à Montblanc ressemble à une flèche pointant vers le bas. Il a une étoile blanche affleurante sur le dessus plat. 2) La plume n'a que le numéro 750 qui lui est embouti (je suppose pour 18 carats d'or). Ce n'est pas magnétique. 3) Le système de remplissage est avec cartouche. La cartouche vide actuelle est la marque Pelikan. 4) Le baril n'est qu'une pièce (différemment de toutes les photos sauf une que je pourrais trouver en ligne de MB 121). Il mesure 69 mm de long et il a l'étoile blanche à l'intérieur d'un cercle orange (même matériau orange de l'anneau entre la section et le canon), mais l'étoile ne semble pas rincer avec le plastique (concernant ??). 5) L'ensemble du stylo mesure 132 mm de long lorsqu'il est fermé. Le plastique semble légèrement transparent lorsqu'il est brillant de lumière. 6) Je ne trouve aucun numéro de série nulle part. 7) Il est venu avec une boîte en plastique dur brun (ressemble à du celluloïd). Box est inscrit Montblanc sur le dessus. De plus, il est écrit rouge à l'intérieur de la doublure blanche, mais aucune étoile à six pointes n'est vue (l'une de mes préoccupations). --- En excuse pour un achat peut-être imprudent, quand je l'ai acquis, j'ai eu peu de temps pour regarder tous les détails, il avait l'air assez convaincant, donc je me suis lancé - malheureusement je ne suis pas expert des stylos, donc je ne pourrais pas être sûr à 100%. Ensuite, j'ai commencé à regarder des photos de MB 121 et je n'ai trouvé qu'un seul exemple rempli de cartouches et d'un canon qui ne s'est pas divisé en deux parties (voir le lien ci-dessous). http: //www.todocolec...502#descripcion Ce que j'ai découvert à la recherche de photos, etc., c'est que le baril ressemble plus à un MB 221 tandis que le plafond dit 121. Alors, peut-être être un "mariage" entre deux stylos différents? The pen measures 5 5/16 inches capped. It has a new converter installed. The gold nib is marked 585 and is a smooth medium. Along the cap band it reads Montblanc 121 Germany. The Montblanc star is on the cap as well as on the other end of the pen. There are numerous micro scratches, however, the pen presents well and would make a nice daily writer. ===== FR Un stylo de fontaine Montblanc 121 bien utilisé. Le stylo mesure 5 5/16 pouces plafonnés. Il a un nouveau convertisseur installé. La plume d'or est marquée 585 et est un milieu lisse. Le long du groupe de capuchon, il lit Montblanc 121 Allemagne. La star de Montblanc est sur la casquette ainsi que à l'autre extrémité du stylo. Acclamations Michael ===== Annonce similaire The Montblanc two-digit model number pens were replaced in 1968 with the Classic line-up. The pens reverted back to a three-digit numbering system. The pens were offered in Matt Gold, Matt Silver, Matt Black, Polished Black, Grey, Red (Burgundy), Green and Stainless Steel. The pens were offered in just one size. Pens produced from 1968 through 1973 used the initial feed design which utilized a hole for airflow. In 1974, the feed was redseign and the hole was deleted. This feed remained in production through the end of the line in 1979. The No. 121 is in the Meisterstuck tier. The pen features an 18k Gold nib and "bishop's mitre" cap band. The pen is in (C) Good condition. It is missing the snowcap on the bottom of the barrel. The pen has a Fine nib. --- Annonce A classic MB piston filler, fitted with a smooth writing solid gold nib, a comfortable slip cap. The pen comes in the timeless Montblanc design and is fitted with stars on both ends . The golden triangle on the cap band, which features only the Masterpiece, is inspired by the shape of the mountain Mont Blanc. Although the beautiful bright yellow ink view is very characteristic. --- History In 1908's, three gentlemen from Hamburg, Germany, founded what would become Montblanc. In the beginning, it was known as the Simplo Filler Pen Company—“filler” because their pen featured a filling mechanism that set it apart from desk-dip pens, which was what most of the world used at that time. It wasn’t until 1910's that the firm released a pen with the Montblanc name on it—in 1924's, Montblanc was added to the company’s name. Mont Blanc, of course, is a mountain in France, on the French-Italian border. But the French have always been considered chic in Europe, so it made sense for a German pen company to name one of its models, and eventually its company, after something French. When it came to marketing, Montblanc’s Claus Voss was every bit as smart as George Parker and Walter Sheaffer, the two geniuses of North American pen manufacturing. If calling a German pen by a French name would help it sell better, then Voss was certainly willing to do it. According to Voss’ daughter’s memoir, her uncle suggested Montblanc at a card game. The company had moved from a pen with a plain red cap, to a red star on the cap top, to a white star on the cap top. The uncle supposedly said to his brother-in-law, “You should call your pens Montblanc because they’re big and black on the bottom and white on top like Mont Blanc.” Mont Blanc is the tallest mountain in Europe, and it’s perpetually snowcapped. This pen would be the pinnacle of quality! ... The 121 pen model is based on the famous model 22, one of the most complex Montblanc pens with approximately 20 parts making the pen. However the similarities end there, the 121 is a high-end pen, a pen deserving the "1" as a first number, which was given only to the Meisterstuck / Masterpiece pens. It features a highest grade Precious Resin and a thick gold filled trimmings. The cap ring is beautiful and unique, gold filled and giving the pen amazing look. ... Due to its enormous width it prevents cracks to appear on the cap; we've almost never seen a Montblanc 12/14 with cracked cap due to this very wide ring/band. Another ring is located on the turning knob, and besides the aesthetics, it also doubles as crack protection to the turning knob. The pen is near perfectly balanced, feel solid and heavy posted or not. The Resin shines and its difficult to scratch, it makes it look as the pen was made just recently rather than many decades ago. Amazing amberish yellow ink window gives out an amazing color blend, besides providing easy ink level readout. Very precise slip-on cap for fast deployment and secure closure "Aeromatic" as Montblanc calls it, which means its a pressure tight and won't leak on planes or other various pressure environment. These were one of the first pens not to feature a breathing hole on the cap, i.e. keeping the nib airtight, not allowing it to dry, keeping the moisture inside the cap. This was only possible with the new corrosion resisting materials at the time and most importantly the silicone socket inside the cap that allowed made for a perfect fit section on cap. In addition the cap has a very nice and distinct "click" sound when opening or closing the pen.. --- --- . ===== .
